Akin to many who walk the healers journey Mel's path has been ladened with challenges. Her childhood was marred by violence and abuse, that subsequently flowed into teenage years full of reckless exploration.

 

Those tumultuous times resulted in some exceptionally life altering experiences that became the catalyst to immense awakenings.

Following her first and possibly wildest descent into the void Mel consciously made the choice to seek her healing. At nineteen she began to study, practice & work with the amplification properties of ancient minerals, energetics & somatic healing while formally studying reiki.

​​

Mel further committed to her journey by becoming a qualified remedial practitioner at twenty three. She started her first healing business while studying then began a mentorship with an extremely gifted Wise Woman.

 

Over many years of consistent dedication Mel's connection to self & oneness deepened.

 

Attuning to the cyclical & natural rhythms of life within fortnightly full moon & dark moon women's meditation circles, Mel's journey was imbued with an abundance of grounding and healing.

 

Her awareness of various ancient traditional practices grew via participation in ceremony, embodying the wisdoms held within the seasonal cycles of change.

 

Alongside these teachings she also studied and practiced the ancient art of tarot for two years.

Mel's mentor imparted foundational knowledge and awoke within her memories of ancient Egypt and the mystery and healing temples of Isis & Hathor.

 

The old ways of traditional matriarchal culture, natural medicines, herbal lore, rites of passage & wisdoms honoring the Earth Mother were vehemently studied & practically applied.

 

As the years progressed and alongside her own personal healing Mel delved deeper into Spirit work, Dream work and many other teachings.

 

After five years she emerged from this old way of mentorship as a Keeper of Sacred Women’s Mysteries. ​​Mel knew what had been purposefully broken was the Women and states

 

"We are the portals of life here on Earth and we hold the keys to unification. When Women and the Earth Mother are honoured, protected and revered once again balance will be restored"

With truth, justice & knowledge as her ever present companions, Mel began her journey to become a midwife in 2013. Little did she know how far we had strayed and how medicalised the most sacred passage of birth & motherhood had for so many become.

​

She walked this journey purposefully with the knowledge that these heavily antiquated colonial & patriarchal systems and models of care need to transform and come into balance & right relationship. ​After two years of learning to hold space in this capacity for others, Mel's own yearning to become a mother was undeniable.

 

With eternal love Mel & Iwi sung their son's Spirit down to be with them and in 2015 welcomed their beautiful son Bodhi Awa Earth side.

 

Experiencing the birth portal for herself was Mel's deepest initiation. She describes her life as forever changed by the journey of family life and motherhood & the vast contrasts it involves. The deepest depths of love, growth and transformation, tarnished by generational traumas, imprints of separation and a loss of familial and community supports.

Returning to complete her midwifery degree after becoming a mother was for many reasons one of Mel's most challenging seasons. Traversing morally opposing situations within the university and healthcare systems to obtain the knowledge and skills to practice as a registered midwife, is one of her most expansive & multifaceted lessons.

 

Mel worked at one of Melbourn's largest maternity hospitals during covid whilst simultaneously addressing issues of racism in the workplace & living through the world's longest lockdown. During this time she was also front lining social resistance movements in advocation for freedom of choice and to uphold human rights and sovereignty. Following these history shaping events Mel knew it was time to make some bold choices for herself and her family.

For the past three and a half years Mel has been travelling. Journeying and strengthening her connection with Country and Kin. A modern day walkabout that has awakened a profound remembrance of precolonial ways of relating to self, others and her environment.

Mel's ever evolving and deepening connection with her cultural heritage has opened immeasurable energetic pathways. ​Mel walks gently and listens deeply to Earth Mother, Ancestors & Winged Kin as they continue to teach & guide her.

Mel is a 41 year old Woman, Mama, Healer & Midwife that powerfully & skilfully weaves together all her experiences, teachings, education & knowledge to hold Sacred Healing Spaces. ​​
